Dividends

This file lists the closest upcoming dividend ex-dividend date, expected payment amount, and denotes if the data is Estimated ("E"), Acknowledged ("A"), Acknowledged by one or more, but not all sources("I") or Overridden ("O").

Stock Div Forecasts

This file compares the computed projected dividend amount against what is being implied in the current options market. If the projected amount is not verified by the current market environment, it is tempered. Furthermore, the forecasts are split-adjusted and are converted to USD in the case when the dividend is expected in a foreign currency.

Stock Div Hist Growth

This file contains ORATS' raw proprietary dividend forecast amounts. The dividend payout amounts in this file are NOT compared to the dividend amount being implied in the current options marketplace.

Special Dividends

This file only contains upcoming confirmed special dividends. Our feed fully conforms to the OCC "12.5" rule on special dividends and includes/excludes dividends in accordance with the rule.

Our Approach
We take the complexity out of dividend forecasting by combining historical patterns, implied dividends, and streaming news to make simple, accurate projections.
Historical Dividends
We offer 14 years of historical forecasts and actual dividends and incorporate dividend trend models to project future dividend streams.
Seasonal Effects
The projected dividend dates and amounts also take into account seasonal irregularities observed in the past. Our dividend consultant analyzes this data and adjusts our calculations to account for any abnormalities.
Implied Dividends
Using our proprietary IV indicators, we compute implied dividends – a calculated estimate of how much a company will pay as a dividend along the entire option expiration calendar.
Intraday Updates
We partnered with top corporate actions provider Wall Street Horizon, whose algorithms are continuously scanning the news wires and providing ORATS with updated data and fundamental analysis.

FAQ

Dividends, answered.

What files come with a Dividends subscription?

Four, delivered daily over FTP. Dividends carries the closest upcoming ex-dividend date and expected amount. Stock Div Forecasts carries the projected amounts tempered against what the options market implies. Stock Div Hist Growth carries our raw, untempered forecast. Special Dividends carries confirmed upcoming specials.

How far ahead do the forecasts go?

2.67 years of expected ex-dividend dates and forecasted amounts, for every stock with US exchange-listed options. On the history side there are 14 years of past forecasts and actual dividends to test against.

What do the E, A, I, and O status codes mean?

E is Estimated, our projection. A is Acknowledged, confirmed by our sources. I is acknowledged by one or more sources but not all of them. O is Overridden, where we have replaced the feed value deliberately.

What is the difference between Stock Div Forecasts and Stock Div Hist Growth?

Forecasts is the tempered file: the projected amount is checked against the dividend the current options market is implying, and reduced where the market does not support it. It is also split-adjusted and converted to USD when a dividend is expected in a foreign currency. Hist Growth is our raw proprietary forecast with no market comparison applied. Use Forecasts to price options, Hist Growth to see the unadjusted model.

Where do the numbers come from?

Four inputs. Historical dividend trends across 14 years, seasonal irregularities reviewed by our dividend consultant, implied dividends computed from our proprietary IV indicators along the whole expiration calendar, and intraday corporate-actions updates from Wall Street Horizon, whose algorithms scan the news wires continuously.

How do you handle special dividends?

The Special Dividends file carries only confirmed upcoming specials, and the feed conforms fully to the OCC “12.5” rule, including and excluding dividends in accordance with it, so contract adjustments line up with what actually happens to the options.

What does it cost?

For an individual license, $199 per month for the recurring feed, which starts on a 14-day trial at $29, plus $2,000 as a one-time purchase for the historical data back to 2007. Professional is $499 per month and $4,000 historical; enterprise is $999 per month and $8,000 historical.
